The Pastor
Dr. Gene A. Buggs
God looked down through time and saw a child whom His favor would be granted and through whom His plan could be fulfilled. That man of valor, vigilance and vision is Pastor Dr. Gene A. Buggs. He has a tremendous passion for God’s word coupled with a love for God’s people. He has a contagious and charismatic spirit that flows through every facet of his personality and ministry.
Pastor Buggs started early dedicating his life in service to God. Pastor Buggs was converted unto salvation at an early age of 16. It was evident that God had His hands on him as He guided him through service to Him. He was born and raised in Drew, Mississippi, and St. Louis, Missouri. He received love and nurturing from his mother, the late Mo. Louis Buggs, and from members of his extended family where he is the tenth of eleven children.

December 12, 1976 Pastor Buggs married to the love of his life
Elect Lady Evangelist Linda J. (Lewis) Buggs. They are blessed parents of five daughters Ar’Lynda (Kimball)Horton, Kinetra (Samuel)Reeves, Kha'ra Buggs,
Ver'Quel Buggs , and La’Tanza (Matthew)Wallace.
They, together are blessed to have eight grandsons and five granddaughters.
In 1973 Pastor Buggs became a member of Harris Temple COGIC under the leadership of Late Supt. T. R. Harris and later relocated his membership to
Hamilton Avenue (Faith Temple) COGIC under the leadership of the
Late Bishop Fred Lewis & Mo. Statha Lewis.

Having received his mandate from God, Pastor Buggs obediently fulfills his calling as Pastor of Lively Stone. This man of God is a powerful preacher, teacher, a tremendous inspiration to everyone and is totally dedicated to the work of God. Lively Stone has continued to prosper under Pastor Buggs illustrious leadership. Because of Pastors Buggs faithfulness and loyalty to God, his family and to the believers, the Lord granted him a promotion. The Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Aaron Isiah Milton of Southwest Michigan Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction was led by God to appoint Pastor Dr. Gene Buggs as Superintendent of Central District.

Faith, patience, love, humility and influence motivate him to respond to the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19). He believes that only what he does for Christ will last. Pastor Buggs labors in the vineyard for Christ on an on-going basis. He states that he is a born again, Spirit-fed and Bible-led Servant of Christ. He is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because he knows that it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes it.

Pastor Buggs has seen the fulfillment of Ephesians 3:20 in his life..
“Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
